Health Benefits of Abhyanga Snan in Diwali | A Holy Bath for a Healthy Start

It might be irritating to wake up early in the Diwali vacations just to take a bath. But this bath has a special significance in Diwali as it is considered as a holy bath during Diwali. According to early ancient mythology, Narak Chaturdashi implies the victory of good over evil. And thus, this early morning bath signifies the elimination of evil within us. It is also believed that since Abhyanga Snan is taken before the sunrise, it is as pure as bathing in the River Ganga.

Importance of Abhyanga Snan in Diwali

Here’s how to perform the ritual:

  • Wake up early in the morning (before sunrise).
  • Massage your entire body with sesame or any ayurvedic oil.
  • Also, apply a few drops of oil on the scalp and massage your head.
  • Keep massaging and wait for around 30 minutes before you go for a bath so that the oil is absorbed by the body.
  • Before bathing, apply Ubtan (a powdered mix of Ayurvedic herbs and natural ingredients) and massage it thoroughly over the entire body.
  • Scrub it and rinse with water properly so that the mixture is washed off.
  • Now, bathe as you usually do.

As it includes a full body massage with ayurvedic oil and in some regions, a special ayurvedic herbal soap is used for bathing. However, many people use sesame oil, sandalwood oil, coconut oil and then scrubbing the body with Ubtan. Ubtan consists of besan, turmeric oil, and sandalwood powder. As Abhyanga Snan is an ancient ayurvedic therapy that is said to be the most beneficial for health, it leads to an increase in Sattva Guna and decreases Rajas and Tamas. During the days of Diwali, an Abhyanga Snan reaps 6% more benefits than the other days.

Winter is the season where the body runs out of moisture. Abhyanga Snan moisturizes the body and helps in the flow of blood circulation with tightening the muscles, lubricating the joints, eliminating the toxins from the body & boosting up the stamina. The Ubtan helps in healing the damaged or dull skin, shedding the dead skin; ultimately resulting in soft, smooth & glowing skin. The head massage with warm oil relieves you from stress & calms your mind. It also stimulates the hair follicles which results in hair growth. It also stimulates the nerves, prevents neurological problems and relaxes the mind and soul.

With this holy & simple ritual, heal your complete body so that you can stay healthy for the entire year. Prepare yourself to welcome this festive season with Ayushakti’s proven ayurvedic therapies. Top 5 Causes of Infertility in Women | Ayurvedic Treatments for Infertility

Infertility can play havoc in a person, or a couple’s lives. People in love, build hopes and dreams. Most of the times, these hopes and dreams involve bearing a child. When infertility is diagnosed, it tends to make things grim for the people that were waiting to achieve these dreams. Statistics show that 1 in 6 couples can become infertile. These statistics are alarming and needs to be addressed on a priority basis. Infertility wasn’t something that was so prevalent in the earlier days. Also, it used to take place at a much later age, thereby keeping hopes and dreams unaffected.

Causes of infertility in women | Ayushakti

What are the main causes of Infertility?

There can be a number of causes of infertility in women. Following are the causes and the details of how they affect women and their chances of fertility.

Endometriosis

In this condition, the uterus lining inside the uterus, grows outside the uterus. Usually, the uterus lining keeps shedding. If the lining grows out of the uterus, it can block the tubes and affect ovulation in different ways. A woman with endometriosis will experience painful periods, more pain during penetration while copulation, chronic pain in the pelvis, painful bowel movements, urination during menstruation, difficulty in becoming pregnant. Conventional solutions involve laproscopic surgery to remove abnormal tissues or sometimes help to adjust blocked tubes. To conceive, fertility drugs are taken in conjunction with insemination or sometimes, even In-Vitro Fertilization (IVF) is considered as an option. Infertility treatments are more successful in mild cases and less successful in extreme cases. Insemination gives better results as compared to IVF Treatment.

Problems in Ovulation

A problem in ovulation can also be one of the causes of infertility in women. Sometimes, hormonal problems can prevent a mature egg from releasing naturally from the ovary. A woman experiencing this will experience periods that are irregular or absent and will extremely heavy bleeding or sometimes, very light bleeding. Conventional medicine for this includes drugs that stimulate the ovaries and fertility drugs that are combined with IVF treatments. Although these drugs do solve the issues of ovulation in most of the cases, success rates of conception are still pretty low.

Low Quality Eggs

Sometimes, eggs can become damaged or can even develop abnormalities on a chromosomal level. For these eggs, it becomes difficult to sustain a pregnancy. This problem is based on the age of the individual. There are no specific symptoms of this. The consequence are, of course, the inability to conceive a child. No treatments exist except using eggs that have been donated by someone. Two-thirds of women who opt for donor eggs, aren’t able to conceive a child.

Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome

Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOD/PCOS) is a common cause of infertility in women. In PCOD, ovulation is affected by an imbalance of hormones in woman body. The main job of ovaries is to develop and mature and ripen. Instead, in Polyscystic Ovarian Syndrome, cysts start to form in the ovaries. This leads to menstruation cycles that aren’t regular in their occurrence. It also leads to an increased growth of hair, acne and an increase in body weight. Tackling the weight issue is done by adopting lifestyle and diet changes. Ovulation-stimulating drugs are also used, along with artificial hormones and In-Vitro Fertilization (IVF). Losing weight can have significant effect on the chances of copulation.

Tube Blockages

Tubes are the main transport system for the eggs and the sperms. If they get blocked, the eggs and the sperm won’t be able to meet and therefore, will almost never lead to conception. Tube blockages can be  a result of inflammatory disease in the pelvis, diseases that have been transmitted sexually or any previous surgical interventions in the area. Treatment options are laparoscopic surgery or In-Vitro Fertilization Treatment (IVF). Rates of success in conception aren’t fixed and depends from person-to-person.

Sometimes, infertility can be due to a combination of factors of the man and the woman as well. Male infertility treatments are different than the treatments that are used in women infertility. In the end, what is required is proper diagnosis and management of the cause or factor causing infertility. Ayurveda has a number of different healing techniques that can help a woman take care of her problems in a safe, natural, and unique way. It can help people view their previously built hopes and dreams, once again.
