This is how it all begins when you come for an appointment
at Ayushakti Ayurved Health Centers the world over.
First, each client arrives and registers
to check-in at the clinic. You are then ushered into the office
of the vaidya (pronounced vide-yuh), or Ayushakti practitioner.
The vaidya lightly touches your wrist to feel the combination
of 360 possible subtle pulses within your body.
To the vaidya, the pulse is a subtle language
that the adept practitioner learns to “read.”
These 360 subtle variations of the pulse are indicators to
the underlying physiological imbalances that can cause acute
and chronic disease. As the vaidya reads the pulse, he or
she is able to ascertain what is happening in your body, mind,
emotions and spirit. Although the science of “reading”
the pulse in this way is still not well known in the United
States, specialized practitioners have successfully practiced
this technique for thousands of years.
Though practiced for millennia, pulse reading
is not taught at Ayurveda colleges in India. This deep knowledge
is passed directly from a master or Guru to the student or
shishya. The profound pulse reading practiced in our Ayushakti
Health Centers is known as Siddha Nadi Vidya and was passed
down through our 2000-year old lineage. Our lineage is known
as Siddha Veda because the knowledge we practice is drawn
directly from comes from the ancient handwritten manuscripts
called the Siddha Veda that were written by the Siddha Veda
masters.
After reading the pulse in a matter of seconds,
the vaidya in our clinic will share with you his or her findings
and discuss an appropriate course of treatment with you. Depending
on the nature of your health or condition, your Ayushakti
Ayurvedic practitioner may recommend a few herbal supplements
and suggest a particular diet. Sometimes the vaidya will recommend
specialized Ayurveda therapies known as Panchkarma and marma
chikitsa. (For more information about Panchkarma or marma
chikitsa, click here.)
After meeting briefly with the vaidya, you
will have an opportunity to discuss your course of treatment
as well as dietary and lifestyle recommendations at greater
length with a qualified practitioner, who has trained with
the Narams.
This simple yet profound process takes place
in every Ayushakti Health Clinic all over the world –
in Europe, America and Australia – when you come for
an Ayushakti Ayurved pulse consultation.

“Years ago, when I was studying with one of the best
acupuncturists and Chinese pulse readers in the country, he
told me, ‘If you ever meet a good Ayurvedic physician,
study pulse with him.” I came to Pankaj Naram’s
workshop and recognized him to be a sage. He has the right
way of being. When he takes the pulse, he’s seeing all
the other bodies – spiritual and non-spiritual –
of the being before him.”

“I had written a list of my diverse
complaints to tell Pankaj Naram. I sat down facing him and
immediately felt at ease. He gently took my hand to feel my
pulse, and as he gazed into my eyes, I felt the beginning
of a healing process at that moment. Without my telling him
anything from my long list, he went through my completed collection
of complaints and infirmities. He jotted down the correct
remedies to take and then smiled, satisfied and asked if he
had missed anything. Indeed he had not.”

“I had what I thought was a flare-up
of an ulcer that had been troubling me for two years. After
taking my pulse, Pankaj Naram asked if I had been to India
or Mexico. And I had! Dr. Naram said my stomach problems were
caused by parasites and that this condition would go away
after I took the herbs that he recommended. I did as he suggested
and within a month the problem was gone.”
