5 Foods you didn't know were bad for your health

After the age of 30 or 35, our metabolism naturally starts to slow down. One should be prepared to take care of their wellbeing from this age to prevent any chronic health issues in the future.

Here are five items you should avoid in your daily diet mindfully from today for a healthy and disease-free life tomorrow-

  1. Wheat/Refined flour

It creates inflammation in the body, affects circulation, slows metabolism, and you feel bloated all the time.

Instead, make roti from multigrain flour such as sorghum and ragi or a mix of ragi and yellow mung daal flour or mix all in equal proportions and make roti, pancake, etc., as per your taste & choice.  You can also add lots of vegetables to make it more nutritious!

  1. Refined Sugar

Your body needs sugar, it contains healthy nutrients in its natural form.  But increased consumption of chemically processed refined sugar is harmful to the health.

Using too much added sugar increases the risk of diabetes, obesity, and high blood pressure and causes inflammation in the arteries leading to heart diseases.  Increased sugar consumption also causes faster aging.

Your body gets natural sugar from fresh fruits and freshly homemade fruit juices.

  1. Salt

A higher amount of salt consumption in the diet can cause high blood pressure, heart diseases or stroke, kidney problems, bloating, and osteoporosis due to the calcium loss.

That is why it is essential to reduce your daily salt intake to only 5 gram or less than that.

Use rock salt in your cooking which is a far better & healthy option.

Also, if you are looking for a more healthy option, skip salt from your daily breakfast or any one meal.  It ensures that you consume less salt.  You can replace your breakfast with a plateful of healthy fruits instead

  1. Tamarind

Sour food items cause inflammation in the body. It can also cause acid reflux or indigestion & lowered metabolism. If you have some inflammatory health conditions, stopping the sour food itself improves your health.

Tamarind is one of them.  Daily intake of tamarind causes severe inflammation in the body.  Swollen eyes, swollen legs, and ankles are mostly seen in people who consume tamarind frequently. People with joint pain or arthritis should strictly avoid tamarind in any form in their daily diet.  It also creates acidity in most people. Instead, use Garcinia (Kokum) in your cooking, as a souring agent.

  1. Canned juices and drinks

The packed juices and sweetened beverages have a higher amount of sugar and calories. It converts into fat and causes obesity, diabetes in the long run.  Additionally, they don't have any nutritional value to the body.

Instead, drink freshly made fruit juices that have no preservatives because they are safe any day.  Do not add extra sugar to your fresh juices.

Several other food items are not healthy, if consumed daily, such as pizza, pasta, burgers, French fries and potato fries, pastries, cookies, cakes, etc. These fat-increasing food items slow down your digestion process, lowers metabolism, and ultimately causes obesity, inflammations, diabetes, high blood pressure, cholesterol, and many such chronic illnesses.

Avoid such food items in your diet from now on to live a healthy life!
