Ayurveda Diet To Improve Varicose Veins

Ayurveda Diet To Improve Varicose Veins

Varicose veins are veins that have become enlarged and twisted. The term commonly refers to the veins on the leg, although varicose veins can occur elsewhere. Veins have pairs of leaflet valves to prevent blood from flowing backward. If there is a defect, it accumulates blood and causes swelling or enlargement of veins.

Improper diet & lifestyle leads to Aam formation, Vata & Pitta vitiation. Aggravated Pitta along with Aam gets mixed in Ras, Rakta dhatu. This toxicated blood circulates all over the body. Excess Vata damages toxicated blood tissues, mainly valves of the vein. So valves become weak and cannot prevent the black flow of blood in veins. As a result, there is a backflow of blood in veins which causes veins to enlarge & twist. This manifested as swelling & pain in the affected part and is called a varicose vein.

As per Ayurveda, the root cause of varicose veins is an imbalance in Ranjaka Pitta and Vyana Vata. Pitta - Vata pacifying diet is beneficial in varicose veins.
