Ayushakti Brings You 6 Effective Earache Remedies

  1. Olive Oil

The use of olive oil for earaches is a common home treatment. There’s no substantial scientific proof to prove that drops of olive oil in your ear can relieve ear pain. But putting a few lukewarm drops of olive oil in the ear is safe and could be relatively effective. Make sure the olive oil is not very hot to avoid burning the eardrum.

  1. Garlic

Garlic is a natural treatment for earache that has been used for hundreds of years. Allicin, a combination found in garlic, is said to be beneficial in fighting bacterial ailments that may be causing an earache. Eating raw garlic is also said to help relieve earache. However, garlic may hamper antibiotics, so it is essential to speak with an expert before taking it.

  1. Chew Gum

If an earache happens during or after a plane journey or driving to higher peaks, chewing gum may support “pop” the ears and decrease pressure.

  1. Hot or Cold Compress

Both hot and cold compresses can ease pain from an ear infection. Use an ice or heat pack and put it on the affected ear to support the discomfort. The temperature you use totally depends on you. But make sure to cover it with a cloth so it’s not too freezing or too sizzling. If it’s too sizzling, you could cause burns. You can also rotate between a cold and warm compress every 15 minutes.

  1. Hydrogen Peroxide

Hydrogen peroxide can help maintain ears neat and control dirt or extra bacteria from penetrating the middle ear. It’s particularly advantageous for controlling the swimmer’s ear. Swab a tiny quantity of hydrogen peroxide onto the ear canal, but be mindful that too much doesn’t get into the ear itself.
