The Ancient Ayurveda Management for Diverticulitis Disease
Diverticulitis is a chronic gastrointestinal tract condition. When little pockets in the colon swell outward and become infected, these pockets are called diverticula, and the state of the formation of diverticula is known as Diverticulitis or Diverticulosis.
As per Ayurveda, the reason for Diverticulitis is inappropriate eating and the absence of a fiber-rich diet. Because of this, the Vata and Pitta dosha aggravate, bringing about a hindrance to digestion. Improper digestion prompts blockage, which brings about muscle strain while passing hard stool. Also, the increased strain in the colon makes its walls swell out, leading to Diverticulitis.
Diverticulitis can prompt infections, tears, blockages, and sometimes bleeding.
Causes of Diverticulitis
The root cause of Diverticulitis is the development of high strain on the walls of the colon from the inside. When an individual consumes a low fiber diet, the colon needs to apply more pressure than the standard to move a little, hard stool. The effort of more strain on the walls eventually prompts the formation of diverticula and the condition of diverticulitis.
Other causes might include:
- Consumption of Alcohol and Smoking
- Lack of Physical activity
- Certain drugs like Ibuprofen and Naproxen.
- Low fiber diet
- Chronic Constipation
Symptoms of Diverticulitis
- Abdominal pain(especially on the left side)
- Loss of appetite
- High-grade fever
- Rectal bleeding
- Difficulty excretion
- Cramps in the abdomen
