Easing Knee Pain with Natural Treatments
Something as common as a knee pain has many causes, such as the gradual degradation of the body due to age, an injury, arthritis, a strain or sprain, or ligament tears. This leads to swellings, a lot of pain, and sometimes stiffness in the knee, which can be quite a hindrance when one is going about their everyday business. To avoid an inconvenience like that, Ayurveda provides natural treatment of knee pain, so you can go about addressing the important events in your life without being in pain.
Employing the following remedies to ease knee pain can provide relief and even cure it:
Methi seeds
Roast and crush a handful of fenugreek seeds (methi), add some water to it to get a thick, paste-like consistency, and apply it on the affected area. Repeat this a couple of times in a day until you begin to sense relief. Alternatively, you can swallow a teaspoon of finely ground methi seeds and immediately follow it with a glass of warm water. Continue doing this daily until you see positive results.
Hot and cold compress
Practising alternating a hot and cold compress on the knee area can prove to give quick and effective results. The heat works on reducing the pain increases blood flow and relax the sore muscles. The coolth of a cold compress reduces the inflammation and numbs the nerves near the knee.
Wrap each compress in its own towel before you use it on your knee. Use the hot compress for three minutes, and instantly use the cold compress for another minute. Repeating this at least fifteen times each day will bring about relief from the pain. Make sure that you don’t use the hot compress if the affected area is red and irritated, and keep away the cold compress if you have circulatory problems, to avoid any further complications.
Apple cider vinegar
This alkaline tonic has numerous health benefits. It has shown promise in helping with diabetes, cancer, heart health, high cholesterol, and weight loss. Unsurprisingly, it is part of the natural treatment of knee pain. It helps reduce joint pains by eradicating the toxins in the affected area. For those troubled by arthritis, this tonic is a blessing, because it is rich with minerals like calcium, potassium, and phosphorous.
Alternatively, you can massage your afflicted knee with a solution of equal parts apple cider vinegar and olive oil daily, for positive effects.

Cayenne pepper
Cayenne pepper contains the compound capsaicin, which is a natural analgesic, which means it has pain-relieving qualities and thus is a boon for those with knee pain. Put together 2 tablespoons of powdered cayenne pepper with half a cup of coconut oil. Apply this gently on the affected area and leave it on for twenty minutes, and then rinse it off. You can repeat this process a few times in the day until the pain wears off. Alternatively, you can apply capsaicin cream directly.
Keep in mind, however, that cayenne pepper may initially cause burning sensation, so do not apply it on open wounds or cut skin.
Natural painkillers
Relying on pills to ease you of your pain can be detrimental to your overall health. The body can get immune to medicines if they’re consumed too often. Choosing to go for natural treatment of knee pain eliminates any chances of developing immunity towards medications and also proves to be as effective as any other over-the-counter prescriptions. Seeds that are rich in calcium are what you need to cure your knee pain. This includes flax seeds, sesame seeds, and walnuts. Another addition you can make to your diet is including amla in it, because it works wonders for the joints and bone health.
Ginger
Applying ginger oil to the affected area helps, along with drinking ginger tea every day because it is anti-inflammatory.
Oil massage
Take your pick, or your convenience, from coconut, olive, mustard, castor, and garlic oils. Make sure the oil is warm when you massage the knee. This improves blood circulation, provides relief, and soothes the inflammation.
Lifestyle changes
While you’re treating your knee pain naturally, you have to pay close attention to other factors in your lifestyle that might stress or agitate the knee pain. You must wear proper, comfortable shoes, avoid wearing heels for long durations, avoid exerting your knee in exercise or general physical activity, and avoid smoking. In addition, consume foods rich in calcium and vitamin D, and take short breaks from sitting for too long.
With adequate care and these natural treatments of knee pain, you will notice the pain ease up without needing any other kind of medicine. Ayurveda is the best option for effective and natural health care.
