Relieve Sciatica Pain with Ayurveda

Sciatica describes the symptoms of leg pain—and possibly numbness, weakness or tingling,—that originates in the lower back and then travels all through the buttock and down the large sciatic nerve in the back of each leg. It comes on like a sudden cramp and the pain can last sometimes for an entire day. It’s usually caused when a herniated disk or bone spur in the spine presses on the nerve. There are many Ayurvedic remedies for sciatica pain that help reduce the stiffness, swelling and pain naturally. These remedies provide long term solutions. Ayurvedic medicines for sciatica that are prescribed by Ayushakti like Painmukti MJ 2 -2and Suhruday – 2-2 Improves metabolism, promotes blood circulation,  relieves pain, stiffness, inflammation and promotes joint flexibility.

Sciatica can be very painful and disrupting for anybody experiencing it. My mother has sciatica and I have seen her in complete agony and no amount of doctor prescribed ointments or leg massages seemed to give her any relief whatsoever from the pain.  It comes on like a sudden cramp and the pain can last sometimes for an entire day. It’s usually caused when a herniated disk or bone spur in the spine presses on the nerve.

Sciatica typically affects only one side of the body. Pain originates in the spine and radiates down the back of the leg. Medication for pain and physical therapy are common treatments but Ayurvedic remedies for sciatica are slowly gaining popularity among the masses. At the top of the ladder is Ayushakti with its team of vaidyas led by Dr. Smita Naram, who have used the knowledge of Ayurveda coupled with years of research to develop non-invasive treatment procedures and herbal medicines that help provide relief from many diseases. They have been offering their services to people not only in India but in many countries abroad as well!

Common causes for sciatica according to Ayurveda-

  • Intake of Vata aggravating eatables like- adhaki (pigeon pea), chanaka (Bengal gram), kalaya (peanut), masura (red lentil), nishpava (a flat bean), uddalaka etc.
