Pneumonia is an infectious disease that primarily affects the air sacs in the lungs and typically progresses in an inflammatory manner.
Bacteria or viruses typically bring on pneumonia, but drugs can also bring it on.
Pneumonia can occasionally develop as a flu-related complication.
It is one of the most common reasons people die from hospital-acquired infections.
Cough, fever, chills, production of sputum, difficulty breathing, and chest pain are all signs of pneumonia, which can be mild or severe.
Coughing, sneezing, and sometimes even touching can spread this disease to healthy people.
It can also spread to people with the disease but don’t show any symptoms.
The antibacterial properties of herbs and medicines are the foundation of Ayurvedic treatment for pneumonia, which aims to eliminate vitiated Kapha from the body.
Pneumonia can be treated with Ayurvedic herbs like amalaki (Indian gooseberry), kutaja (kurchi), bhringraj (bhangra), tila (sesame), Guduchi (giloy, heart-leaved moonseed), and vasa (Malabar nut). Ayurvedic treatments for pneumonia include langhana (fasting), Vamana (medical emesis), and herbal medicines.
Ayurveda Perspective On Pneumonia
In Ayurveda, pneumonia is referred to as fever or shwasanaka jwara. The most common signs and symptoms of shwasanaka jwara are a high temperature, chest pain, and a cough with thick, persistent phlegm.
Increased air exhalation and inspiration, flaring of the nostrils, and difficulty breathing affect breathing.
The pulse appears to be light, rapid, and heavy.
Other symptoms include forehead sweating, lassitude, weakness, delirium, and a tongue that feels rough and dirty.
If your heart rate and breathing become extremely rapid, you should be admitted immediately to the hospital.
Kapha Pradhan (Kapha dominant) fever is known to be associated with pneumonia.
Numerous body naadis (channels) are obstructed by vitiated Kapha and ama (toxins). Agni (fire) spreads throughout the body; as a result, pushing heat toward the skin and raising body temperature.
The goal of Ayurvedic treatment for pneumonia is to reduce the Kapha dosha to speed up healing and reduce symptoms.

Ayurveda Treatment For Pneumonia:
The first line of Ayurvedic treatment for pneumonia is Langhans.
Langhans is used to treating accumulated ama and jwara.
It is technically referred to as upavasa or fasting and induces apatarpana or calorie restriction.
Additionally, it gives you a sense of lightness.
Langhana can be divided into two categories: Nirahara (complete food deprivation) and phalahara (fruit-only eating).
A person’s Prakriti, or constitution, is used to determine the kind of procedure that will be carried out.
Vata Prakriti individuals can use the phalahara method, whereas pitta and Kapha individuals can use the nirahaar method.
Langhana facilitates ama digestion, increases digestive fire, and enhances sense clarity and sharpness.
The typical duration of langhana therapy is three days and three nights.
The winter months of hemanta and shishira are the best times to carry out this procedure.
Vamana
Vamana is a bio-purification process that removes toxic substances from the body, like too much or vitiated Kapha and pitta dosha.
Additionally, it clears the chest and naadis of ama and mucus. Jwara (fever), lung conditions, asthma, coughing, and other breathing issues can all be alleviated with Vamana.
For the treatment of Kapha disorders, warm milk or water is combined with herbs like pippali (long pepper) and madana phal (emetic nut tree).
One is advised to wash their face, hands, and feet after the Vamana procedure and to inhale herbal smoke. After Vamana, you need a good night’s sleep.
A successful Vamana improves disease symptoms and brings calmness and mental clarity.
