Hypoglycemia refers to a condition where there is an insufficient amount of glucose in the bloodstream. This occurs when the blood sugar level falls below the normal range, which is typically less than 70 mg/dl. Individuals with diabetes can experience hypoglycemia when their bodies do not have enough glucose to function properly.
How does insulin relate to Hypoglycemia?
Hypoglycemia can occur when insulin causes glucose to be absorbed by cells at a faster rate than if it is replenished through food consumption or the release of stored glucose from the liver.
What are the causes of Low Blood Sugar Levels in the body?
Low blood sugar levels are commonly a result of diabetes treatment, but they can also be caused by factors such as excessive consumption of refined foods, tumours, adrenal gland dysfunction, liver dysfunction, and stress.
What is considered a normal Blood Sugar Level?
A normal fasting blood glucose level is typically between 70 mg/dl and 99 mg/dl, while a normal blood glucose level two hours after eating is less than 140 mg/dl. Hypoglycemia occurs when the blood sugar level drops below 70 mg/dl.

Eating small and regular meals and getting adequate sleep is important for managing low blood sugar levels.
How does exercise affect people with Low Blood Sugar Levels?

What is the relationship between Hypoglycemia and the Glycemic Index?
The glycemic index is a measurement used to analyze the impact of carbohydrate-containing foods on blood glucose levels. Carbohydrates are rated on a scale from 0 to 100 based on their glycemic index. In managing hypoglycemia, it is recommended to consume low glycemic load foods that cause a slower and more stable rise in blood glucose levels, while high glycemic load foods should be avoided.
Are there any herbal remedies for Hypoglycemia?
One way to increase blood sugar levels safely is by drinking liquorice tea. When experiencing symptoms of hypoglycemia, such as lightheadedness or faintness, prepare a cup of liquorice tea using one teaspoon of liquorice root per cup of water. However, individuals with hypertension should use liquorice tea sparingly due to its potential to increase water retention and raise blood pressure.
To support brain function on limited sugar, a combination of brahmi, jatamansi, shanka pushpi, and liquorice herbs can be beneficial. Mix these herbs in equal proportions and make tea by steeping half a teaspoon of the mixture in a cup of hot water. Drink this tea after lunch and dinner.
Certain yoga poses can help strengthen the pancreas and prevent hypoglycemia. The Peacock, Camel, and Locust poses, as well as the Elevated Lotus pose and nauli, are recommended for individuals susceptible to hypoglycemia. Also, practising Alternate Nostril breathing can be beneficial.
