Home remedies for acid reflux

Acid Reflux. Acid Reflux is a condition that involves heartburn (burning sensation near the heart/lower area of the chest). This burning sensation usually starts from the stomach and moves up, through the esophagus, and near the heart. A person experiencing this pain will have difficulty when he/she lies down or bends. Intensification of Acid Reflux is called GERD (Gastroeosaphagal Reflux Disease). People who experience GERD will experience the

following symptoms:-

  • Heartburn
  • Nausea
  • Soreness in throat
  • Dry cough
  • Pain in chest

The early symptom can be a sour taste in the mouth. If a person can identify it, he/she can avoid acid reflux.

Home remedies for acid reflux can also be incorporated by a person suffering from it. Care should be taken, however, to ensure that the person is taking authentic home remedies and also has an idea of how and when to take each home remedy. Similar to allopathic pills, home remedies for acid reflux should be taken at a specific time and in the right amount. Not following such guidelines will reduce the efficacy of the home remedies for acid reflux and the person will have to turn elsewhere for getting relief from acid reflux.

Looking at the problem technically, the feeling of heartburn is actually due to the acid coming up from the stomach and into the throat. Hence the name, Acid reflux. What happens is the acid, which obviously has some corrosive property, comes up (in contact with the walls of the throat) and hence the burning feeling right behind the breastbone. Sometimes, the acid reflux doesn’t come up that high or is too diluted, to actually cause any burning sensation. However, if a person is experiencing heartburn, it is 99.99% of the time, related to the reflux of acid from the stomach.

Heartburn affects a huge chunk of the population. Unfortunately, a lot of them take over-the-counter medicines to relieve themselves of the burning sensations. Instead, what they should be taking is remedies that can be made up, right in their homes. A quick home remedy is natural and the perfect way to relieve heartburn in an individual.

Acid reflux happens usually when an individual has overeaten spicy food or foods that have a lot of fat. Since most of the times, a person overeats at home, the remedy of the same thing, should also come from home. And home remedies are the perfect solution to it.

Care should be taken while experiencing acid reflux symptoms. If precautions aren’t taken to address acid reflux at an early stage, it can intensify quickly to lead into Gastroeosaphagal Reflux Disease. Sometimes, stress can also cause Acid reflux. For real, research has shown that the stress centres and the digestive process are connected in strange ways. Therefore, excess stress, that the mind can’t handle, can lead to an upset in the stomach, eventually leading into GERD or Gastroeosaphagal Reflux Disease. There are also certain foods that are potent and can trigger acid reflux in an individual.

A person experiencing acid reflux may feel that he/she is getting a heart attack. They should take care not to panic, as panicking will only cause more stress to the heart. What people should understand is that the feeling that they experience during a heart attack is very similar to the feeling of heartburn/acid reflux/ Gastroeosaphagal Reflux Disease and they should calm down and take help of anyone near them. Too much of acid reflux is also bad as it may lead to scarring in the esophagus and inflammation and other problems in the digestive/respiratory system.

The acid the is refluxing can contain all or some of the following things in it: food particles, juices from the pancreas, bile from bile ducts, other acids. As you can see, different parts of the digestive system are all involved in the acid going up the Gastroeosaphagal tract. That is a common characteristic of the human body. The moment something is wrong in one part of a system, all the other parts of the system are affected and can therefore create havoc for the individual. Care should therefore be taken to treat all diseases and conditions, especially, Gastroeosaphagal Reflux Disease, seriously.
